This summer we’re going to walk through 1 Corinthians 13 phrase by phrase, considering both the nature of love, and how to embody it. It’ll be ugly at times, because none of us are touching the way of life in this chapter. But it will be hopeful, because we can see real growth in love, individually and as a community.

This week we start a new sermon series based on the book of Joel called When the Locusts Come. Click here to read more about the series. The teaching this week will be based on Joel 1:1 - 2:17 "Don't Waste Your Locusts." Our hope will be to set the stage for the series as a whole, and to consider what Joel says about how disasters now can help us escape bigger ones later. This whole series is a great opportunity to reflect on the nature of pain and suffering. Everyone has questions about pain and suffering, so it makes for a great series to invite friends to come out to.

This is the last Sunday in our I Am series (click here for past sermons and Study Guides). The teaching will be based on John 15:1-17 - "The Vine." We're excited to have Chad Grindstaff as our guest speaker this week. Chad is a church planter with North Cincinnati Community Church. He and his wife Erin are working towards planting a new church in the Fairfield Township in the winter of 2012. Before moving to Cincinnati Chad was an assistant pastor at a church in Gainsville, Florida. Chad and Erin both served in campus ministry at the University of Illinois.

In addition to hearing from God's Word, we'll affirm our faith using the words of the first question in the Heidelberg Catechism. It's week 5 in our I Am series (click here for past sermons and Study Guides). We're excited to have Marc Champagne with us this week. Marc has been a pastor at North Cincinnati Community Church for over a decade, and next year will be launching out to plant an intentionally multi-racial church in the northern suburbs. Marc will be teaching on "The Good Shepherd" from John 10:10-18, in many ways a Part 2 to what Josh talked about last Sunday.
