New Liturgy and Sermon are Ready + an Easy Opportunity to Serve
Another weekend approaches, and while we’re saddened not to gather together at 4400 Floral Avenue, we’ve been so encouraged this week to hear of the ways you’re connecting to one another in this season of physical distancing.
This week, we published information about how we’re serving one another this season. Whether you need help, are in a position to offer help, or both, find more details HERE.
Liturgy + Sermon ready for Sunday!
We have our liturgy and sermon ready for Sunday morning. It’s the same set up as last week, and hopefully will be easy to use. Find the liturgy and sermon HERE and HERE are some tips for planning your worship gathering.
Also, we have a new YouTube channel that you can subscribe to for updates and sermons! Subscribe HERE or visit newcitycincy.org/youtube.
In these days of physical distancing, our hope is to not to give up meeting together, as instructed in Hebrews 10, but rather continue meeting as households, groups of 10 or less, and virtually to help curtail the potential spread of the virus.
If you need help coordinating a virtual meeting for your community group or church friends, please email me at abby.murrish@newcitycincy.org.
Passing of the Peace
We’re excited to host a “virtual” passing on the peace this Sunday from 12 p.m. — 12:30 p.m. on Zoom. This will be a time to hop online and say hi to those from our congregation. Pastor Ryan will be there to “host” the time, so please hop on during that timeframe, and see other New City folks. To join, click this link, https://zoom.us/j/589048149, then enter this meeting ID if/when prompted: 589 048 149
We hope to see you there!
Easy Service Opportunity for our Congregation
City Gospel Mission is now serving lunches to go for their homeless shelter clients instead of hosting in the dining room. CGM is asking if we can write notes to go with these packed lunches so that the folks picking up the food will know that they are loved and cared for, especially as they’re unable to gather as usual.
These notes can be a word of encouragement on a 3x5 card, a drawing by your kids, a card with a Bible verse, etc. Notes can be dropped off at at New City through the mailbox at the front of the church.
These CGM clients are some of the most isolated individuals in the city, and now they are not able to eat together anymore, so a personal note, a prayer, or even just a Bible verse can be an encouragement for them. This is a great way to serve our city as a family too! As of right now, this will be an ongoing need, so please drop cards off at the church and we will coordinate getting them to CGM.
Readings and Prayers Podcast
We are now creating a short, daily, weekday podcast to help you stay connected to the life and teaching of the church, and as a tool to help you connect with others in your community. The podcast complements our daily Readings and Prayers guide that we publish on our website at newcitycincy.org/readings-prayers.
Each weekday on the podcast, a pastor or staff member reflects on one of the readings, shares a prayer and asks a question for reflection and to spark conversation with your household, community group, etc. We’ve been so encouraged by the feedback we’ve received about the podcast and we hope you take advantage of this new resource. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.
Praying for all of you this season!
In the love of our Lord,
Abby Murrish
