October Peanut Butter Drive!

I mean, wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy way to love our neighbor this Thanksgiving? Wouldn’t it be great if all it involved was just picking up a jar of peanut butter from the grocery store while there doing weekly shopping, then bringing that peanut butter to church?

Well, do I have the perfect service opportunity for you!

One of the area ministries we have the joy of supporting in Cincinnati is City Gospel Mission. CGM helps the homeless and hurting break the cycle of poverty and despair. Their programs and services focus caring, personal relationships focused.

One of those programs is their Thanksgiving Food Store. Every year, City Gospel sets up a grocery store for neighbors to shop in to stock their home pantries, fridges and cupboards to make food for their families.

Shoppers pay a nominal fee to shop in this store, and they leave with all the ingredients needed to make a Thanksgiving feast, and then some! After they shop, area churches follow-up and check in on them to see how they're doing and if there's any way they can help. It's set up a lot like our annual Christmas Store.

For the past few years, we’ve fully stocked the peanut butter section of the store, and we want to keep helping out that way!

Throughout the month of October, bring 15 oz. jars of peanut butter to the church and we’ll get them off to CGM! Our goal is 200 jars.

So head to your favorite grocery store, buy a few jars of peanut butter (any brand works!) and drop it in The Commons!
