Hark

Hark is a Middle English word we don’t use much anymore, except in Christmas carols. It means “Listen up! Pay attention!” And for us at New City, that’s what we’re hoping the season of Advent will cause us to do. With all the shopping and busyness and hustle and bustle, it’s easy to put things on cruise control; and then before you know it, we’re ringing in a new year. But we want to slow down a bit, and hark to the meaning of Christmas. This "Hark" series uses the outline of Charles Wesley’s Christmas carol, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, as a way of exploring the meaning of Christmas, and really the meaning of Christianity as whole.
