Preparing for Worship (10/03/10)

Corporate worship is a great thing.  Of course, we can worship God on our own and with our families - and we should.  But there is something special about the people of God coming together for worship (Hebrews 10:24-25).  Thus, we hope that corporate worship is the highlight of your week.  In an effort to help you get more out of worship, we're posting a short preview of the upcoming worship service each week.  Hopefully you'll find this helpful and encouraging.

We continue this week in our series "The King and His Kingdom" from the Gospel of Mark.  The text on which the teaching is based comes from Mark 10:13-31.  In preparation for worship, you might ask the following questions: 1.) What do you think it means to receive the kingdom of God as a little child?  2.) What do you think of the two answers Jesus gives to the Rich Young Ruler?  What is Jesus getting at when he seems to make it easy to enter the kingdom when talking about children, and so much harder when talking with the rich man?

We will be celebrating the Lord's Supper this week.  In preparation, read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.  During communion, the worship team will be introducing a new song called "Death in His Grave" (which we will sing as a congregation in future weeks).  Check out a video of the song below.
