Getting Ready for Sunday 6/3/12
Worship means, literally, acknowledging the worth of something or someone. It means recognizing and saying that something or someone is worthy of praise. It means celebrating the worth of someone or something far superior to oneself. (N.T. Wright)
When we gather on Sundays, we do so to celebrate and affirm the worth of God. We hope you'll join us THIS Sunday. Here's a preview of this week's gathering:
This week brings us to the 2nd half of Ephesians 2. Josh will be preaching from Ephesians 2:11-22, "Members of a New Society."
We will be receiving New Members who have recently participated in the Intro to New City Seminar, so welcome them to the family!
We'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper. Jesus invites us to his table, calling us to remember and to proclaim what has has done through the breaking of bread and drinking of the wine. After the message we'll come to His table. To prepare your heart for the Lord's Supper, read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.
If you were present last Sunday you might remember Josh talking about how the AC might not be working this week. Well...good news...it appears we WILL have air conditioning both this week and next. On June 17th we're starting a little summer vacation from Parker while they work on the HVAC. We'll be meeting at New Life Temple's old building, details forthcoming. But this week...we'll be @ Parker School per usual and you do NOT need to wear beach attire since we'll have AC.
The songs we'll be singing together this week (with a fun group of the New City Music team) are:
- Come and Sing
- Arise, My Soul Arise
- 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
- Jesus the Lord My Savior Is
- Hallelujah! What a Savior
- King of Saints
Sunday's coming, bring a friend with you!
