Getting Ready for Sunday 01/01/2012
There is something special about the people of God coming together for worship (Hebrews 10:24-25). Thus, we hope Sundays at New City are a highlight of your week. In an effort to help you get more out of it, we're posting a short preview of this Sunday's gathering.
Come worship with us on New Year's Day. We'll be back to one 10am gathering this week at Parker School. We'll conclude our Songs for Christmas series (click here for past sermons and Study Guides), with a postlude of sorts, focusing on The Gift of the Magi from Matthew 2:1-18.
We're giving our children's workers a break this week, so there will be no childcare available. As always, kids of all ages are welcome in the worship service. We will have a nursery room open, stocked with some toys, if parents want to walk back there at some point with their kids (but note: there will be no workers on duty). We'll have slimmed down service, aiming to be done right at 11:00am. So don't be late!
We will celebrate the Lord's Supper this week as we kick off the New Year. To prepare your heart, read Matthew 26:26-29.
Songs we'll sing this week include:
- We Three Kings (listen below - Sufjan Stevens)
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (listen below - High Street Hymns)
- Come Thou Everlasting Spirit (listen - Cardiphonia)
- Out of the Depths (listen below - City Hymns)
- Joy to the World (listen to a sample - Red Mountain Music)
See you Sunday. Bring a friend!
