Parking can be a challenge on Sunday mornings. Please respect our neighbors and park properly, especially leaving at least 3ft from bumper to driveway apron. For more parking help/information visit: newcitycincy.org/parking

Getting Ready for Sunday (July 17, 2011)

crowd in worship

There is something special about the people of God coming together for worship (Hebrews 10:24-25). Thus, we hope that Sundays at New City are a highlight of your week. In an effort to help you get more out of it, we're posting a short preview of the upcoming Sunday gathering.

We continue in our Origins series this week (click here for past sermons and study guides). Josh will be teaching from Genesis 4:1-16 - "East of Eden." Read the text to prepare for worship, and particularly think about what the Bible says about what life is like outside of the Garden.

In worship we'll have the opportunity to sing together, pray a collective lament (mourning the brokenness in our world), and remind ourselves of the promises God makes for redemption.

New City is excited to welcome Lynn Hacker - a missionary at Mukinge hospital in Zambia, who will be sharing about her ministry. Lynn is currently concluding her year of furlough during which she has been working on a second Masters degree in health service management (the first is in tropical medicine). She was a charter member of one of our sister churches - Tates Creek PCA in Lexington - and she will be returning to Mukinge in August. The Jacksons are hosting a lunch for any who would like to hear more about Mukinge hospital, and Lynn's work in Zambia after worship. Hope you can make it.

Songs we'll sing together this week include:

  • Come See the Son (listen)
  • Thou God of Love, Thou Ever Blessed (listen)
  • Jesus, Lover of My Soul (listen below)
  • Almighty Comforter (listen below) - this is a new song for us
  • Nothing But the Blood (listen)
  • Death in His Grave (listen below)

Pray that God would speak to us as we gather together on Sunday.
