Streetfest a Success
Madisonville Streetfest was a huge success! Thank you to everyone at New City who volunteered, donated supplies or money, attended the event, or prayed for God to work in the event! It is believed that we served around 2,000 people throughout the course of the day and handed out close to 350 backpacks full of school supplies.
This year we had more variety in services and opportunities for people in the booths, including blood pressure screenings, signing up for library cards, and planting carrot seeds (thanks to our New City Booth!). This event was a great step in building our partnership with the community in Madisonville.
On a personal note, it was neat to have conversations and begin to build relationships with some people who worship at New Life Temple. Everyone I talked to was so excited to hear that our church meets at John P. Parker every week, and it was great to hear stories about how people found the Lord and came to New Life.
The HIGHLIGHT of my day was that the student I tutored at Super Saturdays in April, Trevon, stopped by the volunteer booth to say hello! It was great to see him and made me realize that this is how we build community--by serving together and sharing our time with people. What a blessing that God has brought New City to worship in Madisonville at Parker. Please pray about and get involved with the opportunities we have to serve this community!
