Getting Ready for Sunday 6/17/12
Worship means, literally, acknowledging the worth of something or someone. It means recognizing and saying that something or someone is worthy of praise. It means celebrating the worth of someone or something far superior to oneself. (N.T. Wright)
When we gather on Sundays, we do so to celebrate and affirm the worth of God. We hope you'll join us THIS Sunday. Here's a preview of this week's gathering:
We are excited to have Ray Cannata as our speaker in our Sunday gathering this week. He'll be preaching from John 6:1-13, 32-40. Ray is the senior pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (New Orleans). He re-planted Redeemer just months after Hurricane Katrina, seven years ago. He has been married 21 years and has two very active kids.
On October 21, 2011, Ray be come the first known person in history to have eaten in every non-chain restaurant in the city of New Orleans (800 of them). A documentary about his quest to "eat New Orleans," as well as Redeemer's efforts to rebuild and renew the city, is in production (see below).
The songs we'll be singing together this week are:
- Come and Sing
- God Be Merciful to Me (Click here & listen to track #3)
- O Love that Will Not Let Me Go (Make sure you get the Indelible Grace album "The Hymn Sing LIVE" for FREE for a limited time!)
- We Are Listening
- Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder (Click here & listen to track #11)
- Faithful One
We'll also be celebrating the Lord's Supper. Jesus invites us to his table as the Lord of the Feast, calling us to remember and to proclaim what has has done through the breaking of bread and drinking of the wine. After the message we'll come to His table. To prepare your heart for the Lord's Supper, read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.
Come find us Sunday! Don't forget we are Ward St. this summer! Spread the word!
