The Gospel, when it takes root in our hearts, has far reaching implications into every area of our lives. We never outgrow our need for the gospel, and our need for learning more and more how to apply the gospel to the way we think, feel, work, talk, relate, and generally do life. At New City, we want to be life-long learners, not to have bigger brains, but so that we might learn more about who God is, and how he can transform our lives.
The single best way to join a community of learners is through our Community Groups. These groups meet 3x per month, and are composed of 8-18 people, trying to do life together and think through what it means to live out our faith. Community Groups are also great places to investigate Christianity as you sit in with a group of people working through issues of faith in real life. Click the link above for more information.
Two time per year, our Community Groups take a break for more specialized classes, designed to help you go deeper into certain topics. Our next Breakaway series will be on Thursday nights in January 2012.
Several men gather for informal prayer and accountability groups. We encourage these to form organically - so grab some friends and start to meet together for prayer, encouragement, and Bible reading. We also offer a Friday Morning Men's Group - we're meeting from 6:30-7:30am Friday mornings at Panera in Hyde Park Plaza. This fall we're working through "Songs for Work" - some Psalms to help you through the work day. To get involved, just show up on Friday morning, or contact Joshua Reitano with questions.
This Fall and Winter there will be several Women's Gatherings - informal gatherings in homes for the purpose of getting women together to talk and connect. The first one is Novermber 7 at Krista Kananen's home. For more information, contact Claire Helin.
If you're new to the church, we encourage you to come to the next Intro to New City class. This is a Saturday morning Seminar designed to walk you through the basics of the Christian faith, as well as the distinctives and minitstry philosophy of New City. This class is required for church membership. The next class will be offered in January.
Periodically, New City will offer Theology Seminars - Saturday morning offerings with a special speaker. These seminars are designed to take us a deeper into a more specialized topic.
